It’s been a crazy busy month with little time or energy for creating art. However, Spring has sprung and I am starting a new fabric book.
Dave had surgery a couple weeks ago so I’ve been helping him with some of his garden chores. I’ve been opening the greenhouse in the morning, and then watering the seedlings (or we call them our babies). I’ve forgotten how much I love gardening. Here are the babies I’m talking about. They are sitting on high shelves in the greenhouse so I need to bring them down to the table to water, so my arms are getting a little workout!
Outside everything is starting to come out. Our magnolias have given us not only beauty, but a wonderful smell. However, they are now finished. I sure wish they stayed around longer.
I love our Lenten Roses/Hellebores. They are the first to bloom. When I see them, I know Spring is not far off. I have one more variety that has yet to open up.
Now we are into the daffodils. Here are a couple of them.
Another plant blooming is this Brunnera. I have several in the shade garden.
To bring the Spring indoors, while I was at the hospital with Dave, I went into the gift shop looking for something I could bring home to him when he was discharged. I bought him a couple snacks and then found this beautiful mug for me. I’ve sure enjoyed using it with my Sunday morning coffee. Even on a cloudy day, my studio is lit up with this mug.
I’m finally finishing the book I’ve been reading all month. Usually I can finish a couple books, but this month I’ve not had a lot of time to read, and the subject matter is also difficult. But it’s a great read and well worth checking out.
Now to art – finally! I’ve been wanting to make a new fabric book, but with a different binding then the others. I’ll show you what I’m doing on a later post. This is how I’ve started. I tore this canvas fabric 8 x 14 inches. I love how this fabric frays. However, if you don’t like that look, these pages can be cut out.
The fabric is then folded in half, making the pages 8 x 7 inches. The binding will be on the left side.
This book can be any size or really any fabric. However, if using a lightweight fabric, it would need to have a stabilizer attached to the back side.
That’s all for now. I love Spring and really looking forward to getting out more and playing in the soil! Hope you are having a wonderful week!

Marian, Thanks. Just hope I can get my art mojo working more.
